Ensure that all aspects of your Design and Technology Department are safe and comply with BS4163 Code of Practice, CLEAPSS Guidance and COSHH Regulation.

Either every 12, 24 or 36 months the department should be reviewed in full to ensure that it is complying to all aspects of best practice according the to the regulations we work within. The Audit will be carried out by an experienced Design and Technology Consultant who will be able to identify areas of good and outstanding practice as well as areas of practice that need development or intimidate action.

The Audit will result in the school/academy/college receiving a full written report with photographic evidence where needed which will be an in depth review of their Design and Technology Department. It will illustrate both the fundamentals of machine and room compliance as well as in depth statements about what is required. The report will illustrate a set of recommendations which may include immediate actions.

A verbal feed back and presentation of the report is also available which the school/academy/college can invite DT staff, SLT, Governors, H&S officers to listen to, therefore enabling the instant clarification and what next questions to be answered easily. Establishments who do this find they can move forward a lot easier and with more direct actions.

This audit can be used to show inspections and visitors, that the school is taking safeguarding seriously as well as ensuring ALL the users of Design and Technology regardless of age and status are safe.
