Cold and Hot Metal Bending

Aims:

To teach how to carry out cold metal bench work including;

gillutine work.​
-
angle bending.
-
curling.
-
riveting.
-
basic hand tools.
-
how to braze.
-
foundry work using a chip forge.
-

Health and safety associated with the processes.

Outcome:

All participants will have created an object with a range of cold bends and joins on it.
-
All participants will have created an object using the chip forge and anvil.

Requirments:
-
The school must have the following in order to complete the course in full;
-
a fully working brazing hearth and chip forge.​
-
a range of appropriate PPE which conform the BS4163 for hot metal working.
-
a workshop that the course can be done in.
-
a range of basic metal working hand tools including, hammers, files, hacksaws, scribes, steel rules, engineers squares, dividers.
